[Read more...]The Southeast Volusia Humane Society in New Smyrna Beach is hoping some people will be able to open their homes this holiday season to some four-legged friends in need of a foster family. The shelter looks festive, but it’s still sad with dozens of homeless cats and dogs in confined spaces. That’s why the staff came up with “Home for the Holidays,” an effort to get every animal in a foster home for four days from Dec. 22 to Dec. 26.

A big thanks goes out to Concerned Citizens for Animal Welfare for featuring Sophie’s Circle and the Southeast Volusia Humane Society in their current newsletter. Also, thank you to My Bliss Magazine for the full page devoted to Sophie’s Circle in the August issue. The August Yappy Hour was a huge success! The dogs were such a hit and so incredibly well behaved that we want them at all of our future Yappy Hours.

Board president Vicky Fischer, mascot Luv, other board members, staff and friends are pictured at the 2007 Pet Festival when they celebrated the opening of the new kennels. Thanks to the support of generous donors, these kennels will house many dogs before they are ready for adoption. Having these kennels enables SEVHS to accept more dogs for adoption. As the plaque on the front of the building reads, “Our dream came true because of you.”
