“To me, fair friend, you can never be old.” Shakespeare

Age is to be celebrated by enjoying life and having fun! After all, age is just a state of mind. Southeast Volusia Humane Society encourages you to please consider adopting a pet who is a member of our “Red Collar Society.”
The Red Collar Society celebrates dogs ages five and over, and cats age six and over, that are available for adoption. This is a very special society.
Older animals make the most wonderful pets. They have lived and learned. They have already had their housebreaking accidents, scratched and climbed the furniture, chewed whatever made it into their mouths, terrorized with razor sharp baby teeth, and jumped on everyone and anything that moves! Also, their personalities are fully developed and they can tell you if they like kids and other animals – no surprises! These dogs and cats are settled, but still have a lot of life to live!
Many of these animals have lived with a person or a family all their lives, but circumstances such as their owner entering a nursing home, death, mortgage foreclosure, loss of job, or other similar circumstances, have landed them in our Red Collar Society. They all want a second chance for a good home and to feel secure and loved.
Southeast Volusia Humane Society is hoping to plant a seed in your mind, and in your heart, that will encourage you to consider adopting a Red Collar Society dog or cat.
The Red Collar Society is special and its adoptions are very special, too!
