Holiday Foster Program a Success

Posted on: Dec 28th, 2009 | Category: Recent News

The “Foster a Lonely Pet for the Holidays” program was a tremendous success.

Sincere thanks go to all of the wonderful people who made this possible.

We had many applications and immediately adopted over 50% of the dogs and cats who were fostered or visited on Monday (12-21-09) and Tuesday (12-22-09). At the end of the day on Tuesday, our kennels were almost empty; however, our hearts were full of thanks and our smiles could not be brighter. This has truly been a very special holiday gift for the animals as well as the foster and adoptive parents.

Through the Foster Program, we have gained knowledge and acquired details of the animals in a home environment. Our database of approved parents is growing and plans to increase fostering in the future are in place.

Thanks to all for your continued support. Special thanks go out to Board Members Vicki Fisher and Debbie Jackson; Lori Lee, Volunteer Coordinator; and of course all the other special employees and volunteers at SEVHS. Photography was done by our Volunteer Petographer, Gladys Starkey.

We all look forward to a successful new year.

Thank you,

Bob Belt
SEVHS Foster Committee Chairman

"C.J." was fostered by Sara N. for the Holidays. They had a great time together. Thank you, Sara, for sharing your time with C.J. and for helping make him more adoptable when his forever home comes along. "Sherie" was fostered by Tracey for the Holidays. Sherie enjoyed her time away from the Shelter with Tracey. Thank you, Tracey. "Mojo" was fostered by Donna and Michael for the Holidays. After a great time, Mojo was officially adopted and is now in his forever home with them. "Indy" was fostered by Trish and Kent for the Holidays. Indy enjoyed spending the time with them and is now ready to find a forever home. Thank you Kent and Trish for sharing your Holidays. "Sampson" was fostered by Jessy and Judy for the Holidays. He enjoyed his time with them and their dog Sugar. In fact, he now has a new forever home with them. Thank you, Jessy and Judy for opening your home and hearts to this great guy. "Miley" was fostered by Robin and Chelsea for the Holidays. Thank you for making the Holidays much brighter for this great cat. On the day we were fostering, Barbara and Herm came to the Shelter and decided to officially adopt "Merrybells." Thus, "Merrybells" went to a forever home for the Holidays and forever with a great couple. "Batman" was fostered by Yvonne and DeWayne and their boys Joshua, Jacob, Sam, and Seth for the Holidays. With four active boys and a sweet dog named Scruffett, Batman had a great Holiday. Thank you for sharing with this great little guy. With no stop at fostering for the Holidays, Tami went right to the official adoption for "Jellyroll." What a wonderful home "Jellyroll" will have! Coach Michael was interested in the Foster Program and wanted to spend some more time with "Beatle" after having visited her at the Shelter before. He decided right then that he wanted to adopt "Beatle" rather than fostering her for the Holidays only. Lucky "Beatle" went right home with him to her new forever home. Thank you, Coach Michael.
It was love at first sight for Linda and Mark as they only needed to be sure that Greta and their other fur children Emma Jean and Lady got along. Lady welcomed Greta and that's all it took. Greta was officially adopted and went home to her new forever home for Christmas.
